About ASA/BCKV:
Adivasi Students’ Association was established by the ST students
of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya in between the year 1997-98. Mr. Fakir
Chandra Tudu, Mr. Gurupada Saren along with other ST students of that time were
the heroes of ASA who founded the association in BCKV. They had observed, felt
and struggled through various unpleasant issues of being ST students in BCKV which
ignored well-being of ST students in terms of academic, scholarship facts and
religion, culture also. They went on to University authority and different
public administration. They were successful to cover all the factors in the
development, modernization and functioning of the association.
Adivasi Students’ Association combines UG, PG, Ph.D. students of
various faculties and works in interest of progress and development of the ST
students. Each ST student when admitted in BCKV automatically becomes a member
of ASA/BCKV. Esteemed alumnus of ASA, BCKV are also interestingly
and externally linked to our association.
ACTIVITIES:
1. The
Association takes care of its members’ (ST students) rights on regional,
national and community level in any aspect related to BCKV.
2. The
Association also represents the Santal Community by providing advocacy,
programmes and services and promoting the social & academic interests of
its member students.
3. ASA has
established connections with various faculties of BCKV to enable cooperation in
terms of student exchange, research work and participation in various Santali
conferences. It also participates in cultural, traditional, sports and social
welfare programmes.
4. The
Association looks after the proper implementation of Reservation in BCKV in UG,
PG, Ph.D. and other services under the proper Rules and Regulations of Govt. of
India and Govt. of West Bengal.
5. The
Association takes necessary actions against illegal implementation of seats
under ST Reservation; atrocities act on its members. On an overall it takes proper
steps when the member students are deprived of their rights.
6. It looks
after the educational problems, financial problems of its member students and
helps in other critical problems may be hostel related or others.
7. It
circulates significant and necessary informations such as Academic related,
Scholarship related, Job related and others among the members.
8. The
Association encourages 12th passed out students for appearing in
Bachelor Degree Courses under Agriculture and allied sectors.
9. The
Association assists and advices the ST students before Counselling regarding
Seat and Campus selection.
10. The
Association organizes four (4) annual programmes and some other programmes so
that it can promote Santali culture among its members, guests and in society.
11. The
Association ensures proper interactions among seniors and juniors & Alumnus
of BCKV; ensures proper interactions with the Santal students and their
Association of neighbouring Universities; ensures well connection with the
local Majhi-Madowa and other organizations.
12. The
Association encourages its members to serve the society and the community not
only when needed but also whenever it is possible to do so.
